We investigate the roots of scientists' perceptions of the impact of their work by examining stable psychological characteristics such as personality traits. An analysis of personality traits highlights the effects of policies related to gender equality, allocation of research time and skills acquisition. It improves our understanding of the conflicts related to scientists’ perceptions of the impact of their research on beneficiaries. For example, conscientiousness increases the perceived impact on clinical beneficiaries, but reduces the perceived impact on industrial beneficiaries. Organizational scientific freedom increases the effects of personality traits on perceived impact on beneficiaries such that scientists affiliated to a university are less likely than colleagues working in other research settings to perceive the simultaneous impact of their work on both industrial and clinical beneficiaries. 相似文献

The aim of this paper is to analyse the factors explaining the technical efficiency of Spanish industrial sectors during the period 1991–1994 using the Survey of Business Strategies (SBE) of the Ministry of Industry and Energy. It analyses whether efficiency can be explained by factors external to the firm such as the degree of competition in the markets in which it operates, characteristics of the firm (size, organization, advantages of location, participation of public capital, etc.), as well as the effects of dynamic disturbances that may affect the degree of utilization of the productive capacity. 相似文献

In the field of territorial economic growth, it is possible to identify important characteristics in the entrepreneurial structure,
such as the structure of the size of firms, main activity sectors, or the degree of innovation. However, other lesser known
characteristics are important also, such as functional dependency, which considers the relationship between small and medium
enterprises (SMEs), and suppliers and clients belonging to any territorial field or productive dependency, which considers
the level of concentration in terms of buying and selling in connection with the main suppliers and clients, respectively.
In order to empirically contrast the importance of these entrepreneurial characteristics and try to relate them with territorial
economic growth, a sample of 400 enterprises in the province of Seville (Spain) is used.

In the current global corporate climate that surrounds us, firms would do well to encourage the talent and creativity of their
employees in order to achieve success. This is achieved, not by giving priority to individual talent, but by optimizing the
collective as a whole and the firm’s activity based on team work and joint effort. Heads of organizations might benefit from
creating a favorable context for the birth and growth of collective internal cooperation, which is understood to be the collective
ability to create and innovate on the part of the team, the firm or the organization. Having contrasted our hypotheses through
research on Spanish firms, we have concluded that job satisfaction and commitment to the team are factors that have a direct
and positive effect on collective entrepreneurship. 相似文献

A new procedure for the measurement of efficiency and technical change is presented, using DEA with three-dimension data (box data), pooling over sectors, regions and time. Until now, when pooling the data in panel applications it has been assumed that technology remained unchanged, so productivity change was entirely attributed to technical efficiency change. However, patterns of technology change and the decomposition into efficiency and technical change elements can be accomplished by means of restrictions on the general structure of the technology indexes. Under the assumption of non-regressive technical change, upper and lower bounds for efficiency and technical change are obtained. The new methodology is illustrated in an analysis of productivity growth in 13 manufacturing sectors in the Spanish regions from 1980 to 1992. 相似文献

Research analysing the antecedents of a firm’s absorptive capacity suggests that transformational leadership (TL) is one of its main determinants. However, the few studies focusing on the relationship between these two variables do not explicitly assess why transformational leaders facilitate knowledge acquisition, sharing and retention inside firms. This paper suggests that the reason is that the former contributes to the creation of an organisational context that favours learning processes. We test our research model on a sample of 467 Spanish industrial firms. Findings provide evidence that TL is positively related to the firm’s absorptive capacity and that this relationship is mediated by some organisational learning facilitators: experimentation, risk-taking, interacting with external environment and dialogue. 相似文献

This article analyses the importance of different technological inputs (R&D and human capital) and different spillovers in explaining the differences in patenting among Spanish regions in the period 1986 to 2003. The analysis is based on the estimation of a knowledge production function. A region's own R&D activities and human capital are observed to have a positive significant effect on innovation output, measured by the number of patents. R&D spillovers weighted by the distance and the volume of trade flows between regions cause positive effects on a region's patents. However, distance matters more than the intensity of trade flows and the R&D spillover effects between regions are bounded: spillovers from closer regions perform better than spillovers from distant regions. On the opposite side, human capital spillovers do not cause any effect outside the region itself. 相似文献
