Value Chain Connectivity in Indonesia: The Evolution of Unbundlings

This paper applies the conceptual framework of ‘unbundling’, proposed by Baldwin (2016), to assess the value chain connectivity in Indonesia. Indonesia is a geographically large country, and three different levels of unbundling co-exist. The first unbundling aligns with the industry-wise international division of labour in plantation agriculture, mining, and labour-intensive industries; the second aligns with where the task-wise international division of labour dominates mainly in machinery industries; and the third aligns with where face-to-face costs are reduced by the digital economy. We argue that the further upgrading of unbundling and the more effective use of advanced piecemeal technologies among different levels of unbundling will enable Indonesia to achieve rapid and equitable economic development. Overcoming distance is key for effectively using the mechanics of unbundling. We propose that three key elements are be promoted: enhancement of connectivity, development of the service sector, and improvement of the policy environment.     

中国本土文化环境下的商务"关系":一项探索性研究

Recently, guanxi has become one of the hottest topics in domestic academia. Although relationship and guanxi are the same in Chinese characters, significant differences exist between the “relationship” in the western academic context and what Chinese people are familiar with, the Chinese “guanxi”. The indiscriminate imitation of the western relationship marketing in China neglecting the Chinese native culture context is detrimental to a true and thorough understanding of the Chinese relationship marketing practice. Therefore, it is of great significance to conduct research on guanxi in the Chinese native commercial context. Based on domestic and foreign literature review, this paper uses a qualitative research method including content analysis and focus group to get a thorough understanding of guanxi both from the academia and from the practitioners, followed by quantitative analysis methods including questionnaire investigation and factor analysis to develop a native commercial guanxi concept scale. 台湾地区票券市场发展经验与启示

票券作为一种信用工具,在促进实体经济发展中具有重要的作用,而票券的信用价值需要通过票券市场交易实现.因此,建立健全票券市场是一个国家（地区）发展实体经济的重要金融支持.台湾地区票券市场积极的造市机制、完善的市场体系和有效的风险防控制度等成功的经验,能为大陆票据市场的发展提供有益的启迪.     

反思与建议:集体林权制度改革中的金融问题研究——基于福建案例分析

以福建的新世纪集体林权制度改革为案例,重点回顾了改革中的金融创新实践,梳理了问题与难点,认为高成本与风险控制难的预期是当前林权证融资和保险遇到的核心问题,深层原因在于目前森林资源的各类价值实现程度有限以及各项配套机制尚不到位。对策:通过促进林业规模化经营、完善森林资源价值评估体系、建立统一有序的林权交易体系等配套机制建设,实现林业金融创新的风险、成本、收益匹配;过渡期需要发挥财政政策的引导和风险分担作用,带动银行、保险的参与和扩大投入,实现林业投融资可持续发展。     

50 years of regional integration in ASEAN

ABSTRACT

This article offers a brief overview of the development of ASEAN in its 50 years of existence. It covers the early motivations and developments since the late 1960s, the acceleration of integration and creation of the ASEAN Free Trade Area in the 1990s, and – more recently – the development of the ASEAN Economic Community, the ASEAN Political-Security Community, and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.     

ASEAN between globalization and regionalization

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to test the hypothesis that the ‘ASEAN way’ is different from other regional integration schemes, as measured by the relative importance of its de facto regionalization patterns, the importance of its ASEAN+ frameworks, and its globalization-regionalization nexus. A set of indicators using intra- and extra-regional flow data of various sorts are explored and used to compare the ASEAN integration experience with some benchmark cases worldwide. Four aspects are thereby considered: (1) globalization and economic openness, (2) trade liberalization, (3) regional production sharing, and (4) foreign investment promotion.
