When Theodore N. Vail became president of the American Telephone & Telegraph Company in 1907 there was considerable public animosity toward AT&T for a number of reasons, including the company's aggressive suppression of competition under earlier leadership. With the assistance of the N. W. Ayer & Son advertising agency. Vail launched a national magazine advertising campaign to court public opinion. Vail hoped to make the public aware of the quality of service provided by AT&T licensees, to persuade the public to a more favorable opinion of AT&T and, above all, to sway the public in favor of the concept of the telephone industry as a natural and beneficent monopoly. The five pioneering institutional ads for AT&T prepared by N. W. Ayer in 1908 marked the beginning of an advertising program which continues uninterrupted down to the present day.  相似文献

Business models are essential tools for understanding and creating the logic of a company’s business including all relevant stakeholders’ activities. Despite the knowledge of the organic-systematic interdependencies from companies with other stakeholders, business models of the energy economy primarily aim to transfer their value propositions via revenue streams into economical value. This article provides solutions for theoretical and practical extensions of business models for energy storaging to ensure they are sustainable in the future. Zusammenfassung  Leistungen, die auf die speziellen Belange einzelner Nachfrager zugeschnitten sind, sind in den letzten Jahren zu einem immer bedeutenderen Wettbewerbsfaktor geworden. Die dazu n?tige Integration des Kunden in die Leistungserstellungsprozesse stellt die Anbieter jedoch vor erh?hte Anforderungen an ihr Prozessmanagement. Um dennoch die Effizienz der Leistungserstellung sicherzustellen und im Wettbewerb zu bestehen, sollten Anbieter neben den Prozessen im Unternehmen auch die kundenseitigen Prozesstrukturen berücksichtigen. Die Methode des Blueprinting und die Erfassung von Kognitiven Skripten sind hierfür geeignete Instrumente. This study proposes Service Dominant Logic as a new explanatory approach to improve our understanding of sustainable events. A two-step analysis serves as a methodical framework. First, literature related to event marketing and Service Dominant Logic is analyzed with a focus on the micro, meso, and macro level. Second, the theoretical discussions are validated and enhanced by a brief case study from the German meetings industry. The findings highlight that the specific investigation of a micro, meso, and macro level within Service Dominant Logic can serve as a promising framework to better explain and depict the complexity of event sustainability.  相似文献

Electricity storage is a possible flexibility option to increase the share of fluctuating electricity sources from renewable energies in the electricity system. In the past, most attention was paid to household and large storage facilities. Community storage solutions at the meso level have so far been largely neglected. It is only in the context of the change in legislation for the electricity supply of tenants that neighborhood solutions have recently been increasingly discussed.In essence, this article examines the challenges currently arising in the context of the implementation of electricity storage facilities at community level in Germany. To this end, the term “community storage” is first being discussed and outlined. Subsequently, economic-legal and socio-cultural challenges are presented and discussed as central challenges in the implementation of neighborhood storage solutions in Germany. Based on the discussion of current challenges, possible business models for the implementation and operation of district storage facilities in Germany will then be derived.  相似文献
