Utilizing Printed Media to Understand Desired Leadership Attributes in the People's Republic of China 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Using news media as a reliable source, we content analyzed stories on business leaders in two major official Chinese newspapers in three different time periods over the past 20 years. Results show that the reform has brought an increase in stories of business leaders, and in coverage of the desirable leadership attributes relating to Confucian virtues, communist ideologies, and modern management philophies. The results suggest that, by publicizing and adorning specific leaders in both government and business sectors in the official media, the government reinforces the traditional values that are consistent with communist ideologies, and at the same time, it also introduces Western management values to suit the current needs of the society. The results of our study echo the findings of empirical studies on Chinese values that used data collected using other methods. We therefore encourage future research to use the printed media as a potentially valuable source of data for tracking changes in social phenomena in a society over time. 相似文献

This paper describes the frameworks and cognitive tools that have been developed to enhance practising teachers' pedagogical
content knowledge in primary school technology education. The frameworks evolved from our research that firstly examined existing
teaching practices, secondly enhanced formative interactions and thirdly enhanced summative assessment strategies. The evidence
gained over the three years demonstrated how the effective use of frameworks could be utilised to enhance teacher pedagogical
content knowledge (PCK). How we see learning is of prime importance in examining the development of teacher pedagogical content
knowledge. A sociocultural view of learning is taken where human mental processes are situated within their historical, cultural
and institutional setting. In the research project we strongly emphasised the need for teachers to build a knowledge base
for teaching technology. Critical aspects identified as enhancing PCK included: negotiated intervention, planning frameworks,
reflection on case studies, workshops and support in classrooms, appropriate resources, teacher agreement meetings, portfolios
of student work and summative profiles. The increased PCK resulted in: enhanced teacher knowledge about technology including
the nature of technology, areas of technology and specific technological knowledge, changed pedagogical approaches, enhanced
teacher student interaction, refinement of appropriate learning outcomes, critical decision making, improved teacher confidence,
and enhanced student learning. Seven characteristics or features of pedagogical content knowledge that we believe are important
for effective teaching and learning in technology are presented.

This study explores relationships between race, gender, agreeableness, openness to experience, contact, and a measure of attitudes toward diversity—universal‐diverse orientation (UDO). UDO consists of three attitudinal components: realistic appreciation (a cognition), comfort with difference (a feeling), and diversity of contact (a behavior). Results suggest that race, agreeableness, and openness relate to UDO attitudes, primarily due to the relationships of these variables with the behavioral component—diversity of contact. Identifying characteristics of tolerant people (e.g., agreeableness) and training managers in skills related to those characteristics may improve contextual performance and make managers better role models within the organizational context. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

National Health IT Week, which ran from September 11-16, 2011, served as a time to highlight the importance of efficient information systems that protect the privacy and security of personal health information while improving the delivery of health care in the United States. During the week, the health IT community came together to raise national awareness regarding the consistent breakthroughs and hard work industry professionals, providers, and consumers have put forward to ensure they are moving toward the common goal of advancing the future of health care through private and secure health IT. Two events during the week (the Consumer Health IT Summit and the launch of the HealthlT.gov web site) brought home a theme increasingly seen as important to improving our health care system--patients participation in their care. Nurses will need to work with patients so they understand the importance of their participation as a partner in their care, instead of playing a passive role. Nursing informatics has evolved into an integral part of health care delivery and a differentiating factor in the selection, implementation, and evaluation of health IT that supports safe, high-quality, patient-centric care. New nursing informatics workforce data reveal changing dynamics in clinical experience, job responsibilities, applications, barriers to success, information, and compensation and benefits. In addition to the more traditional informatics nurse role, a new position has begun to emerge in the health care C-suite with the introduction of the chief nursing informatics officer (CNIO). The CNIO is the senior informatics nurse guiding the implementation and optimization of HIT systems for an organization. With their fused clinical and informatics background, informatics nurses and CNIOs are uniquely positioned to help with "meaningful use" initiatives which are so important to changing the face of health care in the United States. 相似文献
