THE STATISTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF EXTREME VALUES OF WAVE-CURRENT FORCES ACTING ON SLENDER CIRCULAR CYLINDER IN IRREGULAR WAVES

Based on model test,the statistical distribution of extreme values of wave-current in-line forces acting on vertical circular cylinder is analyzed in this paper.It is shownthat the results calculated by the simplified method,proposed by authors,agree well with the testdata;Weibull distribution is also adoptable in the region of high KC number, and the shapeparameter a and scale parameter β are related well with KC number respectively.     

THE ANALYSIS OF THE SEPARATED LAYERS ALGORITHM BY DOMAIN DECOMPOSITION METHOD

From the principle of of the Domain Decomposition Method (DDM), we analyse the 2nd-order linear elliptic partial differential problems and link the Separated-Layers Algorithm (SLA) with DDM. The mathematical properties of SLA and numerical example are presented to obtain satisfactory computation results. For general linear differential ones, also are the structure of SLA and its characteristics discussed.

Simulation algorithm for spiral case structure in hydropower station

In this study, the damage-plasticity model for concrete that was verified by the model experiment was used to calculate the damage to a spiral case structure based on the damage mechanics theory. The concrete structure surrounding the spiral case was simulated with a three-dimensional finite element model. Then, the distribution and evolution of the structural damage were studied. Based on investigation of the change of gap openings between the steel liner and concrete structure, the impact of the non-uniform variation of gaps on the load-bearing ratio between the steel liner and concrete structure was analyzed. The comparison of calculated results of the simplified and simulation algorithms shows that the simulation algorithm is a feasible option for the calculation of spiral case structures. In addition, the shell-spring model was introduced for optimization analysis, and the results were reasonable.

NONSTRUCTED GRID MESH FINITE VOLUME METHOD AND APPLICATION

Finite Volume Method (FVM) which can solve fluid problems effectively is used in this paper. Gauss theorem is used to transfer volume integration to area integration , by which the relation formula of the nodes around each element is founded based on the constancy of the flux into and out of the element. With that the discrete equations are obtained. This method with free cubic element is applied in 3D seepage and tidal flow problems. From the practice it can be found that seepage flux is more accurate than FEM and FVM also has the advantages of good stability, convenience of solving. easy programming, less computing time and storage.     

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF WATER SURFACE PROFILE IN RIVER AFFECTED BY TIDE FLUCTUATION

A Finite Difference Method with four points weighted implicit scheme and Newton-Raphson iteration method are introduced to complete the flood routing in the tidal river. The problems related to normalization of cross-sectional area and optimization of weighting factor α are discussed and α = 0. 5 - 0. 7 is suggested. With such a α, high accuracy, stable and convergence results and flexible time step will be expected. The computational example of a tidal river in Liaoning Province shows the good agreement with the measuring data on prototype.
