Among other things a global version of the fundamental theorem of welfare economics is proved. One starts with a pure exchange economy with fixed total resources where hypotheses of differentiability, convexity, and monotonicity are made on the utility functions. Let ? be the set of price equilibria where the initial allocation coincides with the final one. Then the map which assigns to such a price equilibrium, the corresponding allocation is a diffeomorphism (a complete correspondence) between ? and the set of Pareto Optima.  相似文献

This paper develops a model with overlapping generations, where the household's optimal fertility, child labour, and education decisions depend on the parents’ expectations or beliefs about the return to education. It is shown that there exists a range of parental income where the fertility rate is high and children participate in the labour market and receive an incomplete education if a parent believes the return to education is low. The act of participating in the labour market reduces the child's ability to accumulate human capital; thus, the action of sending a child into the labour market is sufficient to ensure that the parents’ initially pessimistic expectations are fulfilled. It is then shown that a one‐time policy intervention, such as banning child labour and mandatory education, can be enough to move a country from the positive child labour equilibrium to an equilibrium with no child labour.  相似文献

As an editorial to the special issue “new avenues in international careers research” this article discusses the roots of the international careers research stream, which sits at the intersection between career studies, HRM and international management. In order to support future studies in this emerging area of enquiry, we attempt to lay down the foundations of a research agenda based around what we see as the three core areas of interest: contextualised careers research, comparative careers research and careers research in internationally operating organisations. After providing some suggestions for the kinds of theoretical and methodological tools that will be required to build on these foundations, we introduce the five empirical papers that comprise this special issue.  相似文献

This paper demonstrates that protection and promotion of insolvent banks remains a high priority for national authorities in Europe, and the Commission partially accommodates these impulses in the desire to preserve national financial stability. Insolvent banks are kept alive despite Banking Union rules on resolution designed to facilitate their closure at the cost of private investors. Italian and Portuguese cases demonstrate that pressure to relax state aid rules is strongest where problems are the greatest. However, the long-term trend is still an incremental decrease in national leeway to protect and promote national bank ownership.  相似文献

Leaders who are engaged in sustained inquiry around a topic face a variety of tensions. These tensions include navigating the competing priorities associated with the leadership role as well as the learner role. Acknowledging the nuances of each of these roles requires an intentional balance to ensure that the roles work in service to one another, not in competition. Leaders can provide invaluable context around what they learn to ensure successful, lasting implementation. Leaders must also confront the reality of the “knowing‐doing” gap. The disparity between research and practice requires the learner to engage in careful inquiry as well as purposeful translation of those ideas to support the implementation of evidence‐based strategies into classrooms and schools. Leaders have a window to identify barriers to implementation and consider how to bridge the gap between research and practice. Developing practices that acknowledge these tensions are essential for school leaders who seek to build a coalition of learners and implement what they have learned to make a meaningful difference within their school communities. When leaders identify these tensions, they are empowered to share what they have learned in ways that will make a lasting difference in their schools.  相似文献

The present study investigates whether Hong Kong's volatile real estate market is consistent with a non–linear consumption–based–asset–pricing model. It finds that the asset–pricing model is not rejected for some types of properties.
