Existence of Equilibria in Matching Models of Money: A New Technique

This paper develops a new technique for proving the existence and indeterminacy of monetary equilibria in money search models with divisible money. Our technique is substantially simpler than standard constructive proofs in the literature. This paper is based on the second half of Kamiya and Shimizu (2002). Cournot games with biconcave demand

Biconcavity is a simple condition on inverse demand that corresponds to the ordinary concept of concavity after simultaneous parameterized transformations of price and quantity. The notion is employed here in the framework of the homogeneous-good Cournot model with potentially heterogeneous firms. The analysis leads to unified conditions, respectively, for the existence of a pure-strategy equilibrium via nonincreasing best-response selections, for existence via quasiconcavity, and for the uniqueness of the equilibrium. The usefulness of the generalizations is illustrated in cases where inverse demand is either “nearly linear” or isoelastic. It is also shown that commonly made assumptions regarding large outputs are often redundant.     

Stability and determinacy conditions for mixed-type functional differential equations

This paper analyzes the solution of linear mixed-type functional differential equations with either predetermined or non-predetermined variables. Conditions characterizing the existence and uniqueness of a solution are given and related to the local stability and determinacy properties of the steady state. In particular, it is shown that the relationship between the uniqueness of the solution and the stability of the steady-state is more subtle than the one that holds for ordinary differential equations, and gives rise to new dynamic configurations.     

Strategic complementarities and nested potential games

This paper reports that every finite game of strategic complementarities is a nested pseudo-potential game defined by Uno [Uno, H., 2007. Nested potential games. Economics Bulletin 3(17), 1–8] if the action set of each player is one-dimensional, except possibly for one player.

Compensation,esteem valence and job performance: an empirical assessment of Alderfer's ERG theory

Improving the job performance of employees has been the focus of many motivation theories, especially the need theories. These theories have however been questioned because of a lack of research on the causal relationship between need satisfaction and job performance. Research on the link between the need satisfaction-job performance relationship and individual personality differences among people has also been neglected. This study addresses these research gaps as far as the intervening influence of personality variables on the need satisfaction-job performance relationship is concerned. The present study investigates the influence of need satisfaction (as suggested by the Alderfer theory) on self-esteem (the personality trait) and the influence of self-esteem on performance intention (the surrogate measure for job performance) of top managers and frontline employees. The empirical results show that esteem as a personality variable exerts a significant influence on the job performance of both top managers and frontline employees. These and other findings provide important guidelines for managers on how to address the motivational needs of top managers and frontline employees in order to improve their job performance.     

基于多种贸易理论的我国金融服务贸易模式探究

单一的贸易理论对我国金融服务贸易模式的解释不够完整和准确。通过对前人研究成果的总结和评价,我国的金融服务贸易模式应从不同提供方式和业务类型的角度分别探讨。依据对我国现实状况的实证分析,得出结论:我国的金融服务贸易呈现产业间和产业内贸易的混合模式,过境交付金融服务贸易遵循波特的竞争优势理论,商业存在金融服务贸易可以用规模经济和消费者偏好相似理论加以解释。最后,基于不同提供方式的模式特征提出了相应的政策建议。     

试论集体谈判制度在中国产生和发展的特殊性

集体谈判制度是现代西方市场经济国家已实行了近百年的用以规范和调整劳动关系的一种十分有效的手段和方法，其目的是化解劳资矛盾，使劳资双方达成共识，签订集体合同。我国推行这一制度也已有十年的历程，但是目前这种制度还存在诸多问题。本文通过对集体谈判制度在中国产生的历程以及实施现状的考察，探讨其在中国产生和发展的特殊性，以期求得对集体谈判制度在中国的运用和推广更为深入的认识。
