Extracting the information: espionage with double crossing

This paper addresses two very old issues in human society: espionage and double crossing. Our major conclusion points out that there will be a serious over rewarding problem in the direct mechanism due to double crossing in espionage, and a competitive mechanism with a relative performance regime can possibly mitigate the over rewarding problem and still extract the information.      

Aging and Retirement: Evidence Across Countries

How do demographic factors influence retirement? Using a large cross-country data set, I show that in countries with a larger share of elderly in their population the length of retirement is longer. This result holds true if I control for wealth effects, and when the effective labor force participation rate of the elderly is used instead of the official retirement age. Retirement policies and the social security size are strictly related: a new variable, representing the aggregate relevance of retirement policies, turns out to be significant in explaining the size of social security. Finally, the total amount of social security transfers is positively related with the increase of the elderly population, while in per capita terms this relation is not significant.

我国商业银行的竞争模式正在从简单的产品扩张向提供深入服务的方向转化，对组合营销这种有效的竞争手段的深化将大大有利于商业银行提升营销层次，提高自身竞争力。作者在总结分析的基础上，提出了公司金融产品进行组合营销深化的基本理念、基本方法和基本策略，以及基于RAROC的组合营销风险考虑方法。本文在分析了阻碍我国商业银行进行组合营销深化的基本因素后，对进一步实施组合营销的深化提出了建议。     

Does obligational contracting lead to better performance? A comparison of global carmakers’ supply chain management approaches in Australia

Supply chain management (SCM) has been recognised as key to automobile manufacturers’ (‘buyers’) competitive advantage. However, the performance implication of two different approaches towards SCM, obligational contracting (OCR) vs. arm’s length contracting (ACR), remains inconclusive in the current literature. By focusing on examining how multiple global automobile manufacturers’ SCM practices result in different performance outcomes in the one-country setting of Australia, we are able to ascertain the direct impact of SCM approaches on buyers’ performance. We also provide detailed analysis on the specific influence of each distinguishing feature of the OCR/ACR approaches on different aspects of performance. Through a more nuanced investigation of the links between SCM approaches and automobile manufacturers’ performance at the firm level, this research contributes to a better understanding of the topic with managerially applicable insights.

物流整合与信息共享对企业绩效的影响——关系满意的中介效应

通过问卷调查对中国130家物流外包企业进行数据收集,本研究利用结构方程模型,实证分析了物流整合与信息共享通过关系满意对运营绩效的影响,以及关系长度对关系满意与运营绩效间关系的调节效应.研究表明物流整合促进企业绩效,同时与信息共享通过关系满意促进运营绩效,而关系满意对运营绩效有显著影响,且这种作用会受到合作关系的历史长度的影响.

针对一些不规则布置的综放工作面,介绍了当工作面长度变长时,采取不同的布置及加架方式的优缺点。这对于一些储量较少,地质条件复杂的矿井具有很好的借鉴意义。     

剖析内地旅客在澳门只作短暂停留的原因与对策

旅游(及博彩)业长期都是澳门经济的重要产业.在2003年内地"个人游"政策实施后,来澳者过半为内地旅客,可是他们平均在澳停留天数偏低.本文通过深度调查访问、问卷调查和统计分析探究及检验内地旅客决定在澳停留天数的因素.结果发现来澳目的、来澳次数、可支配收入、出入境交通工具、出入境便利性等都是重要因素.故本文提出以下对策:鼓励以商业为目的的旅客,举办季节性转变的主题活动,在内地高档场所加强宣传和推广,开拓更多的航班和航线,提高边检部门的效率等.     

Shrinking the quango state: five challenges in reforming quangos

Some problems of governance regularly resurface, and the use and role of ‘quangos’— public bodies operating at arm's-length to ministers—is a case in point. The administrative history of the British state is littered with official reviews and political debates about quangos. Historically, governments, whatever their reforming zeal, have found it difficult to make substantial changes. Now the UK government has initiated a rapid and large-scale set of reforms. This article analyses these changes and highlights five challenges for governments wishing to reform arm's-length bodies: mapping, assessing, reconfiguring, saving, and accounting.     

Modeling Overnight Recreation Trip Choice: Application of a Repeated Nested Multinomial Logit Model

In this paper we apply the repeated nested multinomial logit model, a version of a random utility model (RUM), to estimate the choice of an overnight versus single day recreation trip, along with the other usual choice of which of the sites to visit, and less typically, the choice of whether to participate (in our application – to fish) at all. We also find statistically significant income effects in the empirical results. The application is to Atlantic Salmon fishing and the data set is for Maine resident angler's fishing trips to rivers in Maine and Canada.
