Determining the integrated volatility via limit order books with multiple records

The integrated volatility plays an important role in risk management and portfolio selection, the estimation methods regarding the quantity have been widely investigated, either under low-frequency data or high-frequency data, or a combination of both. In this paper, we propose a measure for the integrated volatility via limit order book data with possible presence of multiple records. The estimator is valid under mild conditions and it is easily implemented. The finite sample performance of the proposed estimator has been verified by simulation studies and we apply the method to some real high-frequency data-sets as well.     

儿童英语游戏教学与注意力及学习成绩关系的研究

游戏是儿童生活的一个重要组成部分,把游戏运用于儿童英语教学中,让儿童玩中学、做中学,实现"寓教于乐"的教学原则,这正是儿童英语游戏教学的出发点和最终目的。儿童英语教学采用游戏教学法是因为它有许多非常明显的教育功能,如激发学生学习兴趣、有利于学生身心和智能的发展、促进儿童社会化发展等。笔者认为,在儿童英语课上应大力提倡游戏教学,因为它符合儿童学习的认知规律和身心发展规律,同时也能使儿童注意力在课堂上能够迅速而有效的集中,实验证明,长期的坚持儿童英语游戏教学还能有效的提高儿童的注意力水平,实施游戏教学不但符合儿童的心理特点而且能大幅度的提高了儿童英语学习成绩。     

基于行政记录的广西人口数目估计

广西普查年或非普查年的人口数目通过统计调查方法获得,这种方法的缺陷是成本高、时间长。这就需要我们探索其他的人口数目来源渠道。行政记录是一种比较好的来源。使用行政记录资料估计人口数目的方法有人口统计分析模型和线性回归模型。人口统计分析模型是一种利用人口出生、死亡、迁移及其他资料估计人口数目的宏观统计方法。它的优点是节约成本,缺点是所依据的数据资料有时残缺不全,结果影响人口数目估计的精度。线性回归模型利用行政记录资料和人口统计调查资料的相关性对人口数目进行估计。文章利用广西户籍人口变动资料,使用这两个模型估计广西2010年人口数目,并且对估计的结果进行了评价。     

Drawing care: the illustrated journal’s “path to place”

ABSTRACT

Naturalists argue that the greatest threat to the natural world may be our “extinction of experience” with it. We know that place matters, but what can work to restore care between people and place? In this article, I will argue that illustrated journals can reinvigorate our experience with the world. By including text and image, science and art, illustrated journals incorporate different ways of knowing. Drawing draws us into the world as we pay attention to easily missed details. Writing complements drawing by providing a space for synthesizing or imagining about the observed. Like any skilled practice, journaling transforms our understanding of the world. My illustrated field journals began when I sensed that care for today’s world demanded more tools than what my training as an ecologist, alone, could offer. Illustrated journaling can begin with a few simple drawing and writing exercises – several of which I will describe in this article. As an immersive practice in place, the process of illustrated journals matters more than the product. Page by page, illustrated journals recognize the interpretive encounters so foundational to worldmaking and, in doing so, cultivate the deep attention to, and experience of, the world that is our first step toward care.     

Identification of approximately duplicate material records in ERP systems

The quality of master data is crucial for the accurate functioning of the various modules of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This study addresses specific data problems arising from the generation of approximately duplicate material records in ERP databases. Such problems are mainly due to the firm’s lack of unique and global identifiers for the material records, and to the arbitrary assignment of alternative names for the same material by various users. Traditional duplicate detection methods are ineffective in identifying such approximately duplicate material records because these methods typically rely on string comparisons of each field. To address this problem, a machine learning-based framework is developed to recognise semantic similarity between strings and to further identify and reunify approximately duplicate material records – a process referred to as de-duplication in this article. First, the keywords of the material records are extracted to form vectors of discriminating words. Second, a machine learning method using a probabilistic neural network is applied to determine the semantic similarity between these material records. The approach was evaluated using data from a real case study. The test results indicate that the proposed method outperforms traditional algorithms in identifying approximately duplicate material records.

简略寿命表的快速计算

目的:实现简略寿命表的快速计算。方法:利用Excel2000,输入、编辑、存储数据;利用VC++6.0设计用户操作界面及算法。结果:通过用户界面,实现对人员结构表的快速读入、死亡信息表的快速统计和简略寿命表的快速计算。结论:极大地提高了简略寿命表的编制速度,特别是当死亡信息表数据量巨大或数据频繁变动时,提速效果逾发显著。
