Tourism research is in the midst of a ‘critical turn’ away from traditional positivist approaches, towards more reflective and critical paths of inquiry. This paper introduces readers to Q-methodology, a method of research that tourism researchers rarely use and that can provide useful information in critical tourism research concerning the exploration and comparison of subjectivity. The paper presents the fundamentals of the approach and provides examples of its application in tourism and other areas that may directly interest tourism researchers. In so doing, the paper encourages and facilitates the use of Q-methodology amongst tourism researchers interested in enhancing the nature and richness of their methodological alternatives for developing tourism knowledge.  相似文献

文章以马斯洛需求层次理论为基础,从员工需求视角提出了经济性薪酬的四分类假设,根据员工偏好水平由高到低分别是生存类薪酬、保健类薪酬、合作类薪酬和自我实现类薪酬,运用Q分类技术对这一假设进行了实证检验.员工属性差异与薪酬偏好关系的探索性研究结果发现:女性对集体合作类薪酬的偏好水平更高,男性对自我实现类薪酬更加偏好;此外,员工的受教育程度和职位层次对自我实现类薪酬的偏好水平有显著正向影响,月收入水平对该影响有部分中介作用.  相似文献

Previous studies used only one item or one dimension to measure work-leisure conflict, which makes it impossible to present the nature of this conflict appropriately. To measure work-leisure conflict appropriately, we define work-leisure conflict as a form of interrole conflict in which the role pressures from work and leisure domains are mutually incompatible in some respect. Subsequently, we propose a multidimensional construct of work-leisure conflict and develop a corresponding scale, BI-WLCS. Through a rigorous development process, two directions, conflict due to work interfering with leisure and conflict due to leisure interfering with work, as well as three forms, time-based, strain-based, and behavior-based conflicts, of BI-WLCS were identified. The BI-WLCS was proven to have good fit, reliability and validity. This multidimensional scale provides an effective instrument for measuring levels of work-leisure conflict, and offers ways for stress management in practice and accentuates the research of work-leisure conflict issues academically.  相似文献

This study focuses on generic service quality dimensions, which have empirical and conceptual support in the literature. The purpose of this research is to try to validate these dimensions using two measuring procedure that are different from the common ones used in this area. The Guttman scaling procedure and Q-sort test are the two new measuring procedure used in this validation process. The outcome of this study is that of the six dimensions tested, only four are found to be valid. Also, a three-dimensional scale is recommended to measure service quality.  相似文献

Aspects of six graduate theses are described in order to illustrate the potential contribution of social psychology to tourism studies. Their topics are images of tropical holidays, design of holiday brochures, international travel mode choice, family roles on holiday, and long-distance travel and sightseeing. Particular attention is drawn to their theoretical rationale and methodology, to certain environmental questions, and to directions and choices for future research.  相似文献
