一部具有巨大召唤结构的潜在文本——对《围城》文本的重新解读

《围城》不仅将封建主义文化对知识分子的精神腐蚀表现得淋漓尽致 ,而且通过对留学生身上的各种不良习气及道德品质的无情剖析 ,返照了西方社会文明的一个侧面 ;小说在构建方鸿渐等一群特定的人物所处的具体环境这个有形的“围城”的同时 ,还将笔触伸向整个人类存在 ,构建了当时中西方两种文化氛围中现代知识分子的精神危机这一座无形的“围城”,道出了现代人对自己生存处境的哲理思考 ,使其成为一部具有巨大召唤结构的潜在文本。     

中外大学生英语硕士论文中四词词块的比较研究

本研究以中国学生和英语母语学生应用语言学硕士学位论文中的四词词块为调查对象,从结构和功能角度对比分析了中外大学生在英语学术写作中的词块使用情况。研究发现,与英语母语学生相比,中国学生使用了更多数量和更多种类的四词词块,更偏爱使用被动结构的词块,较少使用介词短语词块,但对"参与者主导的词块"的使用明显不足。     

The coevolutionary process of restaurant CSR in the time of mega disruption

This study investigates how US foodservice conglomerates have embarked on corporate social responsibility (CSR) measures to circumvent dire situations during the COVID-19 pandemic. It explores the evolution of CSR practices from restaurant enterprises to rescue and salvage their stakeholders. By analyzing press releases from ten restaurant chains in three different crisis phases (incubation, acceleration, and climax) through corpus linguistics, we identify a CSR progression mechanism that coevolves with the aftermath of the crisis among their stakeholders. This study improvises the CSR- as-process view to highlight the time-variant dynamic nature of CSR development over the course of major disruption.     

Accounting narratives and the narrative turn in accounting research: Issues,theory, methodology,methods and a research framework

This plenary address paper traces the development of accounting narratives in external reporting practice and research, focussing on corporate-sourced financial communications to shareholders and analysts. It is written from the personal perspective of a researcher who began in the positivist tradition of disclosure research and is increasingly engaging with the more interpretive/critical tradition of socially-constructed narratives. Whereas early accounting narratives research existed at the margins, modern content-analytic work on disclosures rose to a position of prominence, alongside the rise of non-financial information in the practice domain. In recent years, large-scale linguistic studies have entered the mainstream positivist North American literature, supported by computerised natural language processing. Outside this community, accounting research has witnessed a ‘narrative turn’, similar to many other social science disciplines, marking a shift away from realism and positivism. This paper argues for the importance of both lines of research. Participants' actions in relation to accounting narratives may be understood in terms of, inter alia, both economic explanations based on utility maximisation and behavioural explanations based on psychology and the embeddedness of narrative in social practice. In terms of methodology and methods, the weakening of the deep-surface divide is exemplified by the common combination of corpus linguistics approaches with (critical) discourse analysis in other disciplines. Based on a discussion of key issues, theory, methodology and methods, a framework for thinking about research in accounting narratives is offered. The challenge is to better understand the role of narratives in the increasingly rich, complex information environment of external reporting.     

Social media bots and stock markets

This study examines the link between information spread by social media bots and stock trading. Based on a large sample of tweets mentioning 55 companies in the FTSE 100 composites, we find significant relations between bot tweets and stock returns, volatility, and trading volume at both daily and intraday levels. These results are also confirmed by an event study of stock response following abnormal increases in the volume of tweets. The findings are robust to various specifications, including controlling for traditional news channel, alternative measures of volatility, information flows in pretrading hours, and different measures of sentiment.

从批评性语篇分析的视角出发,运用系统功能语言学及语用学的分析方法,对国家发改委在其官方网站上公布的节假日调整方案的调查问卷进行分析,发现调查问卷作为一种商用语篇体裁参与社会实践,在了解民意的同时,更加侧重推销方案,在一定程度上促成了这次节假日调整方案的实施。     

Web content mining for comparing corporate and third‐party online reporting: a case study on solid waste management

This study investigates the coverage of solid waste management on 1142 websites maintained by companies, news media and non‐governmental organizations to validate an automated approach to content and language analysis. First, a frequency analysis of waste management terms sheds light on the breadth and depth of their environmental discourses, revealing that corporate and media attention to waste management is small compared with that of non‐governmental organizations. Second, an investigation of their attitudes toward waste management suggests that companies avoid negative information in environmental communication, unlike news media or non‐governmental organizations. Ultimately, an automated tool for ontology building is employed to gain insights into companies' shared understanding of waste management. The ontology obtained indicates that companies conceptualize waste management as a business process rather than framing it from an ecological perspective, which is in line with findings from previous research.
