This study aims to empirically evaluate the predictors that influence sustainability performance among manufacturing firms. Leadership and management, green and lean practices, and guanxi were examined to determine whether these predictors are directly and/or indirectly affecting sustainability performance; 160 valid responses were collected and partial-least-squares-structural-equation-modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. The results showed that leadership and management positively influenced green and lean practices and green and lean practices positively influenced sustainability performance. Leadership and management also positively influenced guanxi. Interestingly, leadership and management and guanxi do not exert a significant direct influence on sustainability performance. The findings contributed to the development of the resource-based-view theory further by empirically exploring the significance of leadership and management coupled with green and lean practices as competencies and capability to drive sustainability performance. The testing of the dual mediators' effects further added value to this study.  相似文献

We argue that charismatic leadership can influence external support for the organization, particularly in making the company more attractive to outside investors. Two studies were conducted to test this general hypothesis. First, an archival study demonstrated that the stock of companies headed by charismatic leaders appreciated more than the stock of comparable companies, even after differences in corporate performance were controlled. It was also found that the effect of charismatic leadership was heightened under more difficult economic conditions. Second, an experiment was conducted in which the salience of charismatic leadership was manipulated, along with information about the prospects for an organization's turnaround. Results showed that appeals from a charismatic leader led to increased investment in the firm, and the leader's influence was greater when the prospects for an organizational turnaround were more difficult. It was also found that an endowment of stock enhanced the influence of charismatic appeals and that charismatic leadership may have affected the general risk propensities of followers. These findings were interpreted in terms of an external perspective on leadership, illustrating how leaders can manage the firm's economic and social environment. 互惠和信任是社会交换的普适准则。本文基于社会交换理论,以中国境内各类企业972位管理人员为样本,试图研究领导风格与员工工作态度之间的关系,尤其是组织与员工间的互惠和员工的组织信任在其中的中介作用。在初步研究的基础上,本文对变革型领导、事务型领导、广义互惠、平衡互惠、员工的组织信任、组织承诺和离职意愿各概念进行了系统的探索性分析和验证性分析,接着检验了这七个核心概念的区分效度。研究结论表明:(1)变革型领导不仅直接对员工的组织信任和组织承诺产生作用,而且通过组织对员工的广义和平衡互惠使员工产生对组织的信任,从而提高员工的组织承诺和降低员工的离职意愿;(2)事务型领导仅仅通过互惠对员工的组织信任和组织承诺产生作用;(3)广义互惠直接影响员工的组织承诺,平衡互惠通过组织信任影响员工的组织承诺。研究结论告诉我国企业领导者,首先,尽可能锻炼自己,努力成为变革型领导者。其次,要努力塑造互惠和信任的企业文化,并且特别着重于建设广义互惠的企业文化和制度环境。  相似文献

An understanding of transformational leadership has been developed for many spheres of management, but not previously for organizational conflict. This paper analyzes a successful conflict mediation attempt in the early Christian church and draws from it elements of a model of the transformational management of conflict that can be applied by managers in many contemporary work organizations. The elements include (a) reframing the conflict, (b) a focus on a shared organizational vision, (c) the placement of responsibility for dispute resolution in the hands of organizational members directly and indirectly involved in conflict, and (d) the use of communication devices consistent with the desired outcome. The paper suggests skills necessary for managers to implement the model and implications for research on it.  相似文献

我国特殊的股权结构决定了我国上市公司的主要代理问题是大股东与中小股东之间的代理冲突。大股东往往通过各种方式如资金占用等来对上市公司进行掠夺。在西方成熟的资本市场上,审计作为一种独立的外部监督机制能够在一定程度上抑制代理冲突。那么在我国新兴的市场中,审计能否起到有效的监督作用从而抑制大股东的“利益输送行为”呢?本文从需求和供给两个方面进行了研究。实证结果发现,从需求方面来说,大股东资金占用越严重的公司越没有动机聘请高质量的审计师;从供给方面来说,审计师在出具审计报告时会考虑大股东的资金占用,大股东资金占用越严重,越有可能被出具非标准的审计意见报告。实证结果表明我国目前还不存在高质量的审计需求,但审计师能对大股乐的资金占用作出反应,从而在一定程度上抑制大股东的行为。  相似文献

Using news media as a reliable source, we content analyzed stories on business leaders in two major official Chinese newspapers in three different time periods over the past 20 years. Results show that the reform has brought an increase in stories of business leaders, and in coverage of the desirable leadership attributes relating to Confucian virtues, communist ideologies, and modern management philophies. The results suggest that, by publicizing and adorning specific leaders in both government and business sectors in the official media, the government reinforces the traditional values that are consistent with communist ideologies, and at the same time, it also introduces Western management values to suit the current needs of the society. The results of our study echo the findings of empirical studies on Chinese values that used data collected using other methods. We therefore encourage future research to use the printed media as a potentially valuable source of data for tracking changes in social phenomena in a society over time.  相似文献

Expert judgement is pervasive in all forms of risk analysis, yet the development of tools to deal with such judgements in a repeatable and transparent fashion is relatively recent. This work outlines new findings related to an approach to expert elicitation termed the IDEA protocol. IDEA combines psychologically robust interactions among experts with mathematical aggregation of individual estimates. In particular, this research explores whether communication among experts adversely effects the reliability of group estimates. Using data from estimates of the outcomes of geopolitical events, we find that loss of independence is relatively modest and it is compensated by improvements in group accuracy.  相似文献
