Abstract:Governments and private investors often widely differ on the definition of value in the privatization of a state-owned enterprise. Many governments attempt to privatize businesses that have questionable potential of creating value from future operation. Mooney and Griffith discuss the issues which arise during the privatization of a “distressed” enterprise through the case experience of Sociedad Mixta Siderurgia Argentina (SOMISA).
