Reflection on the Sluggishness of the Economic Development in the Ethnic Region of Western China in the Transitional Period-A Framework of the Analysis of Economic and Cultural Factors

From a new angle of view, this essay takes cultural factors into consideration in analyzing the laggard economy of western China. It holds that the sluggishness of the western ethnic regional economy roots in its culture, especially the anti-market culture which has been preventing the development of market-oriented economy.
