Building Water Resources Protection Defensive Lines to Ensure the Safety of Water Source Regions of the Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion

The middle route of south-to-north water diversion project is one of the strategic projects of China,and the safety of the water source regions is the lifeline to this project.The article analyses the water quality of the water source regions,points out the primary environmental prob- lems in the protection of the water source regions,and references that three defensive lines are needed to ensure the safety of drinking water in the middle route of south-to-north water diversion.These included strengthening non-point source control and ecological construction to build an eco- system protection defensive line,adjusting the structure of industry and enhancing the prevention of industrial and municipal domestic pollution to build a defensive line of point source integrated control,intensifying administration and legislation to build a defensive line of guarantee in terms of policy and mechanism.
