从代际传承角度审视长期贫困的复杂性、持久性,是近年来经济学研究贫困问题的一个新视角.鉴于女性在抚育后代、家庭未来发展方面所具有的特殊性,使我们认识到贫困的代际传递与性别差异存在很强的关联度.贫困女性欠缺足够的营养健康、医疗保障和完整教育,弱化了她们对子女的早期喂养能力与早期教育能力,限制了子女成年后社会竞争力和自我提升能力,抑制了子女未来创造财富的能力发挥.
