Abstract: | The US economy was slow out of the gates in 2018, recording GDP growth of only 2.0% on a quarter‐on‐quarter annualized basis in Q1. The softness was primarily driven by weaker consumer spending (up 1.0%), though business investment grew at its fastest pace since 2014, up 10.4%. This kept momentum quite solid, with real GDP up by 2.8% year‐on‐year in the first quarter. |
