China and Africa are important strategic partners to each other. In the background of the global financial crisis, this relationship is deepening, economic and trade cooperations are increasing, which have brought about brand new opportunities to banking industry at the same time. In 2008, ICBC purchased 20% stake in The Standard Bank of South Africa, making it the largest ever investment from China to Africa. This June, president of ICBC, Jiang Jianqing participated in hosting the opening ceremony of World Economic Forum Africa Summit, and visited South Africa, Botswana, Uganda and Nigeria in Africa.
