马克思主义经典作家运用唯物史观将西方资产阶级经济学发展和演变的历史划分为古典经济学和庸俗经济学两个历史时期。然而,现代西方主流经济学家不承认资产阶级经济学已经转化为庸俗经济学。他们在研究对象上强调抽象的资源配置、在研究方法上强化数理工具的应用,企图以此来掩盖现代西方经济学的庸俗性质。应用马克思主义唯物史观对现代西方经济学的性质、研究对象和研究方法加以批判性的分析,不难发现披上了科学外衣的现代西方经济学依然是庸俗经济学。
