Abstract: | This article highlights the role played by social scientists and social science research in the field of youth and development in southern Africa. It examines in particular the research being done into teenage pregnancy and motherhood, and HIV/AIDS. The author concludes by emphasising the necessity for social scientists and people in authority to work together to identify relevant areas of concern on which to concentrate research in future. |
