谢家荣教授在北京大学

谢家荣教授是著名的地质学家、矿床学家。他曾几度在北京大学任教,1925～1927年讲授经济地质学,1932～1937年讲授矿床学及地文学,1964年还为地球化学专业学生讲授矿床专题。1932～1937年他担任研究教授,除繁重的教学工作外,还有许多研究工作任务,并取得了丰硕的成果。1934～1935年他任北大校务会议候补委员,1935～1937年任校务会议委员,1936～1937年任北大地质学系主任,对北大地质学系和地质人才的培养作出过重要贡献。

Professor Xie Jiarong in Beijing University

Professor Xie Jiarong was a famous geologist and economic geologist. He was invited fo hold the post of professor of Geology Department in Beijing University for several times. He ,taught Economic Geology in 1925-1927, Mineral Deposifs and ' Physiography in 1932-1937,and special topic lecture on Mineral Deposits for the students of Geochemistry Speciality in 1964, As a reseach professor, in 1932-1937, he did a lot of research work besides his strenuous teaching and scored great successes. He was an alternate member of the committee of administrative affairs in the Beijing University in 1934-1935, then a formal member in 1935-1937, and the director of Geology Department of Beijing University in 1936-1937,Professor Xie made a lot of important contributions to the Geology Department of Beijing University and to the framing of qualified geologists.
