| Abstract: | Wan Guo Gong Fa is the first translation in the late Qing Dynasty which provided a full introduction of international law to promote the semi-colonialist peaceful diplomacy. This essay analyses such heterogeneous elements from the perspective of the Polysystem Theory as relevant to society and politics, and reveals the power game behind the translating activity on the basis of its patrons and translators＇ ideology. |
