Estimates of trade-displacement costs for U.S. workers

This paper examines the costs to society when prolonged unemployment of resources occurs following trade liberalization. Clearly such costs could be of sufficient magnitude to outweigh the benefits of a move towards freer trade. The paper analyze the characteristics of a sample of trade-displaced workers, and from this analysis the costs of trade liberalization is a displaced worker and to society are estimated.
