Abstract:Researchers have recently begun relying heavily on samples of recent movers to estimate housing demand parameters. Estimates from mover, equilibrium, and disequilibrium samples are compared to determine whether significant differences exist. The results suggest that income elasticities are not affected by the sample distinctions, but demographic effects vary across the different subsamples.
