Legal Issues Regarding Dating Inspection Certificate under L/C business in Banks

As an integral part in L/C business, dating an inspection certificate is of great legal significance. Any neglect or error herein will cause the document of beneficiary to be refused by the opening bank. The date of inspection and the date of issuance should be clearly indicated on the cargo inspection certificate. In case there is only the date of issuance on the certificate, it will be deemed that inspection and issuance occur at one and the same date. When it is indicated in the contract of international trade that inspection should be conducted before shipping and there is only one date on the inspection certificate, which is later than the date of issuance of shipped B/L, the certificate is unacceptable, and for this reason, the opening bank will refuse to open the L/C.
