Leisure,tourism and social change

The need to recognize the overlap between leisure, tourism and social change was emphasized at the conference of the Commission on the Geography of Tourism and Leisure, held in January in Edinburgh. Sponsored by the Scottish Tourist Board, several regional councils and commercial firms and held under the aegis of the International Geographical Union, the conference attracted 75 delegates world-wide and has produced a wealth of information on subjects as varied as leisure lifestyles, tourism planning, social change, community development and environmental impact.
