| Abstract: | Although mainly confined to ‘formal’ work in the field, a recent survey of futures research in the United States does show that a considerable number of changes have occurred. There have been major shifts in the orientation and focus of work being done, in the range of disciplines involved, and in the overall relationship of the field to the larger society. However, the earlier assessment1 and its critical evaluation of the range and content of futures research remains valid in broad outline. The specific differences which emerge from this second study are discussed from several viewpoints. |
