| Abstract: | Nonlinear responses of arch dams which possess of transverse construction joints(TCJ)to earthquake excitations are analysed with nonlinear FEM in this paper.Several stress states such as the continuity,opening,closing and relative sliding of the TCJ are simulated in the mathematical model.Dam-water interactions are solved by using the method combining FEM with SEMI-INFEM.The stress,displacement and response process at the important locations of the dam are demorstrated in an example. |
