Manufacturer Return Policy and Demand Uncertainty

The manufacturer return policy is widely regarded as a means for channel partner to share risk. In manufacturer policy, the manufacturer determines a wholesale price "w/unit" and the buyback price " s/unit" for unsold units returned by the retailer. Given w and s, the retailer determines the order quantity Q from manufacturer. We can get the retailer's optimal order quantity and manufacturer' s optimal strategy. We also get the condition which manufacturer using return policy must satisfy and analyse how the demand uncertainty affect the manufacturer and retailer.
