Financial Development and Jiangsu Economy Growth: Empirical and Comparison Analysis

Most theoretical and empirical research holds that there is positive relevance between financial development and economic growth. However, an empirical analysis on the harmonized relationship between financial development and economy growth in Jiangsu is made, revealing that the case is just the opposite. A comparison analysis is made on the financial development levels between Jiangsu and other provinces in China, finding that the reason for this result lies in a comparatively low level of Jiangsu financial development in a whole, hence blocking the development of economy. Therefore, the urgent task is to take great efforts in developing small - and medium - sized financial institutions, perfecting financial services and financial regulation, quickening commercial bank reform, flourishing insurance industry market so as to promote a harmonized development of finance and economy of Jiangsu.
