Cost Trends in Land Grant Colleges and Universities

Thisis a study of the production and cost relationships in the Land Grant Colleges and Universities for the period 1956–57 to 1962–63. The study is based upon financial, enrolment, and employment data as published by the U.S. Office of Education (Lind, 1959–65). The results show few significant changes in the production relations, but rapid increases in factor costs have resulted in great increases in the social costs of educating students. These results are important, both for national educational policy and planning on the level of the individual college or university.
