Abstract: | Piore and Sabel's concept of flexible specialisation (FS) has initiated a lively debate between'optimists','pessimists'and 'sceptics'. The potential impact of FS on work organisation and skills is examined through a review of industry case studies with discussion of the implications for management, government and unions with respect to training policy. |
