近代两湖地区城市经济发展及其早期现代化

从经济学视角来说,城市现代化进程即城市工业化和商业化的转变过程。晚近以来,随着"被开埠通商",两湖地区一些较大的沿江港口城市如汉口、武昌、长沙、宜昌、沙市、岳阳等迅速崛起,城市工商业兴盛,迈入了早期现代化的轨道。然而,由于工业基础和实力薄弱,这些城市的早期现代化进程后劲不足。因此,近代两湖地区区域中心城市的早期现代化具有明显的被动性、开放性、脆弱性和不稳定性特征。
