Efficacy of Prednisone Combined with Sodium Aescinate in the Treatment of Facial Neuritis and Their Effect on the Production of Treg/Th17 Cytokines and Free Radicals

Objective To investigate the efficacy of prednisone combined with sodium aescinate in the treatment patients with facial neuritis and their effect on the production of Treg/Th17 cytokines and free radicals. Methods A total of 90 patients with facial neuritis patients admitted to the Third Hospital of Wafangdian City during September 2017 to April 2020 were selected as the research objects and were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group with 45 cases in each group. Patients in control group were treated with prednisone on the basis of routine treatment, while those in observation group were treated with prednisone and sodium aescinate on the basis of routine treatment, and curative effect was evaluated after 1 week. The short-term efficacy, serum levels of Treg/Th17 cytokines [interleukin-10(IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-beta(TGF-β), interleukin-17(IL-17), interleukin-22(IL-22)] and free radical production related indicators [advanced protein oxidation products(AOPPs), nitric oxide(NO), catalase(CAT), superoxide dismutase(SOD)] were compared between 2 groups. The occurrence of adverse drug reactions during treatment were recorded. Results After treatment, total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05). Serum levels of IL-10, TGF-β, CAT and SOD were higher than those in control group, while levels of IL-17, IL-22, AOPPs and NO were lower than those in control group(P<0.05). There were no significant difference in the incidence of skin rash, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and constipation between the 2 groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Sodium aescinate added to the treatment of facial neuritis is helpful to improve the curative effect and alleviate inflammation stress, and has good therapeutic safety.
