Stranger in a Strange Land:A Reporter Goes Home

For many people trying to make it in the big city,their hometowns have already become a place that is half-familiar half-strange:this reporter is no exception. In 2011,inflation,real estate regulation,urbanization and other strategies that have enabled China to maintain its long term pattern of economic growth faced many new challenges. While visiting home during the recent Spring Festival this reporter collected a series of hometown stories in an attempt to take a snapshot of the recent goings on in rural China.These stories include the forced movement of farmers into urban community homes,the sudden intrusion of mining companies in rural areas,the rapidly growing popularity of cars in the countryside,the subtle signals of economic deceleration and the continuing change of standing of small town businessmen in China.
