China’s soft drink industry developed steadily between 2006 and 2010,with its revenues growing at a compound annual rate of 22.83%.The country produced 105,725,000 tons of soft drinks between January and November 2011,a year-on-year rise of 21.5%.The sales of soft drinks are expected to exceed RMB408,000,000 in 2011 and the industry’s size is expected to climb to RMB872,000,000 by 2015.There are setbacks.The costs of soft drinks have kept rising as the inflation expands continuously.The costs of raw materials,such as white sugar,are also rising.Moreover,the market competition has become fierce as the leading brands implement diversified development strategies and new brands emerge continually.The situation is changing.The recovery of the global market will boost the exports of Chinese soft drinks.The consumption upgrade will also enlarge the market of soft drinks.It will be necessary for Chinese authorities to establish industry security standards so that its soft drink firms can benefit from the reviving global market.
