从认知-功能视角可以透彻理解SVC基本句型的修辞功能;在语言的＂形式与功能匹配＂理论指导下,英语SVC句能表达描述、叙事、定义、评述等多种功能,其中评述功能最为重要。根据＂英语重句法结构＂、＂汉语重信息结构＂的思想,在翻译时应正确理解原文语言的功能和意义,准确切分复杂句中的语言事件,先叙事,后评说。

Functions and Translation of SVC Construction

This paper analyzes the rhetorical functions of SVC construction from the perspective of recognition and function. Under the theoretical guidance of ＂pairing of form and function＂, it discusses the language characteristics and semantic structures of SVC in English and studies the origin and development of complex commentary sentences. Considering the fact that English is structure - prominent, while Chinese is information - prominent, it explores methods of translating commentary constructions. It points out that in translation we should first identify the function and meaning of the source language and distinguish precisely language events in complex sentences and then translate them in the sequence of ＂narrative - commentary＂
