Abstract: | Here the author examines change to work organisation in a large domestic appliance factory over a twenty-five year period. After work study engineers attempted to improve the efficiency of assembly workers, the company more recently, has encouraged shopfloor workers to analyse their own activities utilising techniques associated with TQM. |
