Abstract: | Abstract . THIS PAPER DESCRIBES land use controls for private and public land in the Adirondack Park in northern New York State. The situation is unique because the privately-owned land is interspersed with the state-owned land. Land use controls, administered by the Adirondack Park Agency, are similar to urban and rural zoning regulations, but with heavy emphasis on natural resource considerations. The role of externalities in land use is stressed. |
