Methyl isobutyl ketone is wildly used in the fields of middle boil solvents and organic synthesis, etc. Various production routes of methyl isobutyl ketone were summarized in this paper, of which the technological progress of one-step process for hydrogenation of aceton was introduced emphatically. The current situation of production, market supply and demand, and developing trend of methyl isobutyl ketone at home and abroad were also analyzed. In conclusion, some proposals were put forward on production and development of methyl isobutyl ketone in China.
