Abstract: | Was the Scargill-MacGregor confrontation an episode in collective bargaining or a clash between economic and political interest groups? Dr Green, a political scientist and a former Labour councillor, argues that the NUM President's motivation lay deeper in the attempt to use the Union for a political attack on ‘capitalism’ by exploiting the ‘liberal ethic’. |
