THE SPRING OF GENE CHIPS STILL FAR
Abstract:Believe it or not,there are over 30,000 new deafness patients in China every year,60% of which are caused by deafening genes.Actually,doctors know some drugs may trigger dea f ness.But as the traditional gene detection methods are unpractical,they just had to let such tragedies continue to happen.Good news is that deafness gene chip testing technology has been invented by CapitalBio Sciences Co.,Ltd.(CapitalBio).The chip covers nine mutational sites of four most frequently seen deafening genes in Chinese population.It takes only five hours and several hundreds of Yuan to complete a testing,much faster and cheaper than before,according to Zhao Zhixian,Marketing Director of CapitalBio.The technology enables doctors to see the individual differences of patients and greatly elevates the accuracy in diagnosis and treatment.But it has to be based on a large amount of scientific research in a long period of time.Though the gene chip technology is not mature enough at the moment,some cannot wait to bring it to the market and make profits.Since the new technology faces difficulties in market access and lacks specialists,the spring of gene chips is yet to come.
