Abstract:The dissipator equipped with flaring gate piers (FGP) is Innovated in China in 1974. It has beenflourishing in China in recent twenty years. This paper reviews the history of development for tile Innovation,namely FGP incorporated dissipators, Summarizes the experiments on the techtllque of FGP. which forms 3 D contracted jets at gate piers tail. They will dissipate energy alone or jointly with different conventional gatepiers dissipators, skip-jump, stilling basin, bucket basin, and surface dissipation as well. The flow characterist dissipation mechanism and effect of the FGP incorporated dissipators are also discribed. Several problems onthe technique about FGP incorporated dissipators are discusse and its further development are forecasted.
