晚清湖南由于自然经济解体，商品经济发展以及帝国主义资本输出的加深，其金融业发生了前所未有的变化，呈现出以下特点：一、金融机构新旧并存，多种多样。二、金融机构内部分工精细，管理严格。三、市面多种货币流通，货币制度极其混乱。四、近代银行是间接由民族自救和发展省内工商业所造成。五、金融业地区分布和发展不均。

On the Characteristics of Banking Industry in Hunan in the Late Qing Dynasty

With the collapse of the natural economy, the development of the commercial economy and the intensification of output of imperial capital, Hunan witnessed unprecedented changes in banking sector in the late Qing Dynasty. The changes were as follows: a variety of old and new banking institutions coexisted; banking institutions adopted strict management; the monetary system was at a mess because of circulation of several kinds of currencies; banks emerged along with the development of local industry and commerce; the banking sector witnessed unbalanced development in different areas.
