| 摘 要： | 英语在其发展过程中吸收了不少汉语借词,涉及多个领域。通过考察从《牛津英语词典》（第2版）只读光盘（4.0版）收集到的33个饮食类汉语借词,发现其中的一半来自粤方言,这与广州特殊的地理位置和当时从广东移居美国的华人有关。33个借词中,＂茶＂和＂豆腐＂对英语语言和英语国家饮食文化的影响尤其深远。

| Abstract: | The English language has borrowed from the Chinese vocabulary words in various fields.Out of the thirty-three loan-words on food and drink from The Oxford English Dictionary Second Edition on CD-ROM Version 4.0,the author has found that half of them are borrowed from the Cantonese dialect and that this is correlated with the special geographic location of Guangzhou and the constant immigration to America then and now.The author analyses the words tea and tofu of the identified thirty-three to illustrate the profound influence of Chinese loan-words on the food and drink culture of English-speaking countries as well as on the English language. |
