Frontiers in Payments and Settlement Systems: Four Research Themes

Payments and settlement system directly relates to financial and social economic development and stability, which bears extensive attentions. this paper examines payments and settlement systems from many different angles, ranging from very micro- level analysis to very macro- level discussions, that is, developments in payment systems in consumer financial markets, the role of technology in payment systems, the macro and international context of payment and settlement systems, and what happens when there is a major default in a securities settlement system. These researches contribute us to consider the present condition of the payments and settlement system in China.
