Abstract: | This one-page case describes a self-service merchandising approach in an unusual setting. The cash control procedure described in the case has been used successfully for years, but students overwhelmingly reject it as unworkable or foolish. Classroom discussion of the case can highlight issues of creative thinking, non-value-added activities, cost–benefit analysis, and the psychology of “honest” behavior. |
