Informal Finance, Institutional Transition and Economic Growth: A Survey

This paper summarizes the related literatures about informal finance. Based on the analysis of the transaction features and the mechanisms of contractual governance of informal finance, the survey open out the importance of informal finance to the small and medium enterprises financing and economic growth and its oriented significance in the process of financial institutional change. The summary implies that we should bring into play the advantages and positive effects of informal finance to the design of formal financial schemes, improving the financing of the SMEs and the reform of finance system.
