Abstract: | Recent U.S. textile and apparel imports were examined at a detailed product level to assess factors explaining the level of non-tariff trade barriers (NTBs). Determinants of NTBs at the micro level were consistent with prior studies utilizing more aggregated data. Import penetration, per unit import cost, import quantity change, import value, and product type were significant variables in explaining the variability of import controls. |
