A New Framework for Interorganizational Systems based on Interorganizational Relationships

Upon the pressure of increased market competition, interorganizational relationships are more and more critical to the survival and development of the firms. At the same time, mterorganizational systems (IOS) has become an important technological force behind the improvement of interorganizational relationships. Thus, a better comprehension of IOS is required in order to improve their applications. This paper provides some insights into the strategic alignment between the IOS and interorganizational relationships. It proposes a new framework to classify and analyze the IOS based on two dimensions-participants' competition in interorganizational relationships and strategic importance of interorganizational relationships.
